A meeting of BRICS trade union representatives was held on the sidelines of the 108th session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva. It was attended by delegates from eleven federations of all five countries of that association.
According to the Brazilian side, the Trade Union Forum is scheduled to take place in the capital city of Brasilia on September 18-20, 2019 in parallel with the labour ministers meeting to be held during the same days. These events will be preceded by a meeting of the BRICS Working Group on Employment.
Up to 150 people are expected to take part in the Forum, including official delegations from national trade union centres in accordance with the existing quota: four representatives each from Russia and China, six from South Africa, twelve from Brazil, as well as six representatives from Indian trade unions.
Força Sindical will act as the national coordinator during Brazilian presidency in BRICS. In the near future it should inform other federations of the contact details of its official representative, information on the Forum venue, etc. A draft Forum agenda will also be sent out for further discussion.

Delegates of national trade union centres from all BRICS countries were given an opportunity to express their views on the issues on LEMM agenda and to engage in open exchange with the ministers and employer representatives.

On September 26-27, 2016 the 2nd BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting took place in New Delhi with a meeting of BRICS trade union representatives held on its sidelines.
