Delegates to the 6th BRICS Trade Union Forum have arrived in Chongqing (China) to participate in the annual labour and employment ministers’ meeting of BRICS. In the course of a special session during that meeting the ministers intend to hold consultations on the issues of its agenda with social partners where the floor will be given to a worker and employer representative from each of the BRICS countries.
The ILO Director-General Mr. Guy Ryder is taking part in the labour ministerial.
On the eve of the meeting the trade union delegates adopted a Joint Statement addressed to the ministers in which they have outlined the issues of concern to the workers in BRICS countries.

Delegates of national trade union centres from all BRICS countries were given an opportunity to express their views on the issues on LEMM agenda and to engage in open exchange with the ministers and employer representatives.
Representatives of national trade union centres from Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa discussed topical issues of cooperation within BRICS during the international trade union workshop held on November 14-15, 2016 in Johannesburg (South Africa).

On September 26-27, 2016 the 2nd BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting took place in New Delhi with a meeting of BRICS trade union representatives held on its sidelines.
