UGT will be the coordinator for Brazilian delegation at BRICS Trade Union Forum in China
International Relations Secretary Mr. Lourenço Prado, Assistant Secretary Mr. Wagner Souza and Adviser, Professor Anselmo dos Santos joined the meeting of International Relations Secretariats of Brazilian trade unions held on February 14, 2017 at the CUT (Central Única dos Trabalhadores) head office.
The UGT has officially assumed the role of Brazilian trade union coordinator for BRICS the summit of which will be held in September in China. This year, when the institutional recognition of trade union representation is expected, the UGT has the privilege to lead the Brazilian delegation in this historical moment.
The delegation shall consist of the representatives of UGT – União Geral dos Trabalhadores, CUT – Central Única dos Trabalhadores, FS – Força Sindical, NCST – Nova Central Sindical de Trabalhadores, CTB – Central dos Trabalhadores e Trabalhadoras do Brasil and CSB – Central dos Sindicatos Brasileiros.
The meeting also discussed preparation for the 106th session of the International Labour Conference to be held on June 5-16 in Geneva.
The main topics were labour migration; employment and Decent Work for peace and resilience; Revision of the Employment (Transition from War to Peace) Recommendation, 1944 (No. 71) (Standard setting, Second discussion); a recurrent discussion on the strategic objective of fundamental principles and rights at work under the follow-up to the ILO Declaration on Social Justice for a Fair Globalization, 2008; Abrogation of Conventions Nos 4, 15, 28, 41, 60 and 67.

Delegates of national trade union centres from all BRICS countries were given an opportunity to express their views on the issues on LEMM agenda and to engage in open exchange with the ministers and employer representatives.
Representatives of national trade union centres from Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa discussed topical issues of cooperation within BRICS during the international trade union workshop held on November 14-15, 2016 in Johannesburg (South Africa).

On September 26-27, 2016 the 2nd BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting took place in New Delhi with a meeting of BRICS trade union representatives held on its sidelines.
