BRICS Trade Union Agenda for 2018 in South Africa
The Government of the Republic of South Africa has determined the time and venues of events with the participation of trade unions under the South African presidency in BRICS.
The First meeting of Labour and Employment Working Group will be held on May 7-10, 2018 in Mbombela, the capital of Mpumalanga province, the key industrial and agricultural centre of the North-Eastern part of the country.
The 7th BRICS Trade Union Forum will take place on July 27-28, 2018 in Durban.
The Second meeting of Labour and Employment Working Group to conclude the work initiated in the First meeting and to finalise the Minister’s Declaration will be held during July 30 – August 1 also in Durban.
On July 30-31Durban will host BRICS Labour Ministerial where the Declaration encapsulating the essence of South African presidency for the labour and employment track will be adopted.
The common agenda includes four major topics of mutual interest covering such issues as youth employment, equal pay for equal work, development of the national systems of tripartism and the fulfillment of previous commitments taken by BRICS countries.

Delegates of national trade union centres from all BRICS countries were given an opportunity to express their views on the issues on LEMM agenda and to engage in open exchange with the ministers and employer representatives.
Representatives of national trade union centres from Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa discussed topical issues of cooperation within BRICS during the international trade union workshop held on November 14-15, 2016 in Johannesburg (South Africa).

On September 26-27, 2016 the 2nd BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting took place in New Delhi with a meeting of BRICS trade union representatives held on its sidelines.
