The Federation of Unions of South Africa (FEDUSA) was established on 01 April 1997 through the merger of two federations: the Federation of South African Labour Unions (FEDSAL) and the Federation of Organisations Representing Civil Employees (FORCE). Today, FEDUSA represents over 617,000 members across 21 affiliated unions.

Its formation was driven by a growing need among employees from diverse backgrounds for a stronger, politically independent, non-racial, and stable trade union federation, one that
could promote the interests of workers and contribute responsibly to South Africa’s economic development.

FEDUSA represents its members at various statutory and non-statutory bodies.
