Procedure for holding the BRICS Trade Union Forum participants’ meetings
Procedure for holding the BRICS Trade Union Forum participants’ meetings
In order to strengthen BRICS Trade Union Forum cooperation for a fair and inclusive global agenda promotion at various international forums, the BRICS Trade Union Forum national coordinator of the presiding country is mandated to convene the meetings of the BRICS trade union centres participating therein to discuss the issues of mutual interest and develop a consolidated position.
If such meetings are convened, their initiator shall:
1) determine the agenda of the meeting;
2) elaborate the list of invited organisations;
3) convene and hold the meeting adhering to the principles set out in the BRICS Trade Union Forum Rules (mutual respect, friendly negotiations, solidarity, cooperation, and consensual decisions);
4) draw up the meeting minutes recording the issues discussed and results achieved, and send the minutes to all national coordinators of the BRICS Trade Union Forum and the Forum website administrator for publication.
5) should such meeting be held on the sidelines of an ILC Conference or the Labour 20 meeting, the organisations participating in Forum may submit their proposals to the meeting agenda through their national coordinator not later than one week before the date of the meeting. In other cases, the proposals may be submitted immediately before or during the meeting.
The results of the meetings adopted in compliance with these Rules shall serve as a guide for the Forum member organisations in their current activities.
National trade union centres of the BRICS countries shall have the right to hold their regional meetings with the invitation of foreign trade unions interested in cooperating with the Forum. Such regional trade union meetings may adopt and publish their statements on social and labour issues and other matters affecting the interests of workers in their region, and make proposals to governments and employers in the countries of their region. The decisions and appeals of the regional meetings are the regional initiatives and not the decisions and appeals of the BRICS Trade Union Forum.
National coordinator of the regional meeting’s host country may send the documents of the regional meeting to the other national coordinators of the BRICS Trade Union Forum and to the Forum website administrator for publication.
