Appeal of the VIth BRICS Trade Union Forum delegates to BRICS Business Council
Appeal of the VIth BRICS Trade Union Forum delegates
to BRICS Business Council
National trade union centres of BRICS countries, which have come together in BRICS Trade Union Forum in 2012 to defend the interests of working people and their membership, highly value the contribution of BRICS Business Council in establishing international economic relations and putting in place new financial and economic institutions conductive to business activity and entrepreneurship based on the principles contained in the Declarations of BRICS leaders.
BRICS Trade Union Forum has taken effort within its competence to work out common position and coordinate trade union activity aimed at ensuring the rights and legitimate interests of workers in our countries based on the fundamental conventions of the International Labour Organisation.
While taking note of the joint statement made on behalf of BRICS countries during March (2017) session of the ILO Governing Body expressing confidence that “promotion of decent work will contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals” set out in the 2030 UN Agenda for Sustainable Development, as well as considering the Business Council’s key role in addressing investment issues, we propose to hold a meeting of the Business Council and Trade Union Forum representatives to discuss the opportunities for potential cooperation in the sphere of promoting Decent Work, including in projects involving loan funding provided by the New Development Bank.
